Pharmacy Technician Department

The Department offers training in Professional Diploma in Pharmacy Technician which is a sub-cadre in Pharmacy Profession. The Department also trains Patent and Proprietory Medicine Vendors (PPMV) under Mandatory Entry Point Program (MEPTP) all regulated by Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN), a Federal Government Parastatal. The graduates of Pharmacy Technician can seek admission into the university using their Pharmacy Technician certificate and can also work with the certificate in various organization ranging from Hospitals, Community Pharmacy, Patent Medicine Store, Military and Para-Military institutions among others.

Nutrition and Dietetics Department

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics aims to better human health by delivering innovative, research and ethical based learning. At Nutrition and Dietetics Department we contribute to the fundamental knowledge of how foods and their bioactive components contribute to health and the prevention or management of diseases through effective application of nutrition knowledge to improve human health and well-being. We offer quality education, evidence based and life-long learning to advance the practice of the profession. Dental Health Science Department

The Department of Dental Health Sciences in Emirates College Of Health Sciences and Technology is the second health institution to offer Dental Therapy training in Northern Nigeria. It boasts a highly qualified academic and administrative staff dedicated to student education. Furthermore, the department is equipped with state-of-the-art resources for the comprehensive training of Dental Therapy Professionals. Dental Health Sciences Department is officially registered with the Dental Therapist Registration Board of Nigeria (DTRBN) which operates under the Federal Ministry of Health. Graduates of this program have diverse employment opportunities ranging from primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare facilities and Non-Governmental organizations.

Health Information Management Department

The field of Health Information Management has been a recognized field of professional study for over 85 years. It was originally called Medical Records Science and members of the profession were originally called Medical Record Librarians. From its inception, the mission of the profession was to elevate the standards and clinical record keeping in hospitals, dispensaries and other healthcare facilities (AHIMA 2010). In Health Information Management Department, we train students to face the challenges of the 21st century owing to the fact that the world is fast evolving and the use of ICT to manage patient information is highly paramount. Furthermore the demand for healthcare data has increased over the years which projects our students to fit in any system as long as data or Information Management is involved. The program is fully accredited by Health Records Registration Board of Nigeria (HRORBN) and National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

Community Health Department

A Community Health Practitioner is a specially trained practitioner who provides promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative health care services to the people irrespective of where they live or work. The Health Reform Foundation (2007) described Community Health Practitioners as `core polyvalent workers and these cadres of health care practitioners have remained the core Primary Health Care providers in Nigerian Health System. Community Health Practitioners have a great opportunity to get employed in different levels of health care system majorly primary, secondary, tertiary and Non-Governmental Organizations. Holders of Diploma certificate in Community Health (CHEW), National and Higher National Diploma in Community Health (ND & HND) can proceed for Bsc program in Community Health and Public Health at ECOHSAT (Affiliated to Kwara State University, KWASU) or other universities after which they can proceed for Masters in their area of specialization. A trained and certified Community Health Worker shall abide by the code of conducts of the profession and shall abide by the principles of professionalism.

Environmental Health Department

Environmental Health is a multidisciplinary field that focuses on protecting and improving health by addressing environmental factors. It encompasses natural and human-made elements that impact well-being. Professionals work to identify and manage these factors for a sustainable future. The environment influences air, water, food and living conditions. Understanding and addressing hazard prevent adverse effects on health and the environment.
